Imitating is the Sincerest Form of Flattery...

It is said that the most sincere form of flattery is imitation. If that's true, then I think we've intended to flatter Mr. Richard Hole (CFI). He created a beautiful Weight & Balance (W&B) calculator for the Remos GX in 2008, and made it available in the public domain.

We thought about making one ourselves (hence the imitation), but why reinvent the wheel?

Instead, we've made Mr. Hole's W&B Calculator available on the Student Sign-In tab on the menu bar above.

Now, there are a few things to to note about this W&B calculator:

1. You'll need to go to the Aircraft tab to input the N-Number on the "Aircraft" tab. This will change the red cell in the top-left corner to reflect the aircraft you'll use.

2. You'll need to update the aircraft's weight. The details of the aircraft's weight is in the aircraft placard. Yes, I could give it to you here... but what fun would that be? But the hint that I'll give is that one aircraft has an empty weight of 701 pounds, and the other has a 708 pound empty weight. You get to figure out which one is which.

3. Your CFI will want you to bring in a copy of the W&B prior to your flight. Why? Because this is good practice (and required!) as you do not want to fly over-gross.

If you have any questions about how to update this W&B calculator, please check with your Flight Instructor and he'll be able to explain the moment arm of each calculated field and how that impacts where you fall within the weight & balance envelope of the aircraft.
